Everything has been leading up to this finale of the Immortals quartet. Here is my review of The Realms of the Gods by Tamora Pierce.
The adventure has been building up in both the conflict between the characters we’ve come to know and the Immortals and in Daine and Numair’s relationship. Numair is one of my favorite men in Tamora Pierce’s world, but part of this relationship tends to rub me the wrong way. I don’t care about the age different, but their teacher/student relationship just makes me pause. They at least address the idea of him taking advantage, but I would have just felt a lot better if they had moved away from a teacher/student relationship earlier.
The journey they take is an exciting and interesting one. We see less of the characters we know, but are introduced to a number of other magical creatures. I also really enjoyed getting a better look at the gods that we have seen in bits and pieces earlier.
This story has a different feel than the other books but is still very enjoyable. It’s a great adventure and fitting end to the series. I give it four out of five stars.
